How to manage your time?

1Make a list of the tasks you need to accomplish.

2Assign realistic priorities to each task
  • Priority 1: due today or tomorrow
  • Priority 2: due in one week
  • Priority 3: due in one month
  • Priority 4: due next year
3Balance your effort. Work on small portions every day.
  • Do the daily tasks. Concentrate on what is at hand, then move on to the next daily task. Once daily tasks are completed, proceed to the next step, if desired.
  • Do the weekly tasks. Once weekly tasks are completed, proceed to the next step, if desired.
  • Do the monthly tasks. Once monthly tasks are completed, proceed to the next step, if desired.
  • Do the yearly tasks.
  • Small portions of the future tasks will have been done ahead of time.
4Decide upon the time of day. Some people are more productive in the morning than the evening.

5Manage time in increments. Play a game with yourself by competing against time.
  • Work in fifteen minute, half hour or hour intervals.
  • Give yourself a time limit to complete a portion of a task or the entire task.
6Take a break. Clear your mind and refresh yourself to refocus.
  • Decide beforehand on a 5, 10 or 15 minute break and stick to that decision.
  • During your break, reasses to develop a new perspective.
  • Breaks provide incentive by giving you something to look forward to.
7Keep track of your progress.
  • Cross things off the list as they are completed.
  • You'll feel more relieved and relaxed just by getting through the daily tasks.
  • his will give you a sense of accomplishment and spur motivation.
8Reassess the list.
  • Rewrite and reprioritize your list as needed.
  • Add new tasks to the list.
  • Eliminate certain tasks.
  • Delegate tasks to others.
  • Use technology to complete tasks more quickly, efficiently or accurately.
9Make sure to leave time for fun, it doesn't have to be a lot of time but make sure that you do!

10Sleep for 6-8 hours every night. If you don't sleep for the proper amount of time, you'll probably suffer from lack of concentration and focus and that won't allow you to function well.

Burj Khalifa, skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, that is the tallest building in the world. The centerpiece of a large urban development, it stands 2,717 ft (828 m) high and has 160 floors. Designed by American architect Adrian Smith of the firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, the structure has a triple-lobed footprint derived from a native flower and becomes more slender as it rises to its spire by means of staggered setbacks. The exterior, clad in reflective glazing, with aluminum and textured stainless-steel spandrel panels and vertical stainless-steel fins, has patterns derived from Islamic architecture. Construction of the tower began in 2004 and was completed in 2009; known as Burj Dubai while under construction, it was renamed when it opened in 2010. A mixed-use building, the tower contains a luxury hotel, residential apartments, corporate offices, and suites.

What the SOS Distress Signal Stands For?!

It is commonly held that SOS is an acronym for “Save Our Ship” and thus often written “S.O.S.”.  Interestingly though, SOS actually stands for nothing at all.  It’s not an acronym for anything, which is why it is incorrect to put full stops between each letter.
So why was SOS chosen to signify a distress signal?  The thought was that SOS, in Morse code signified by three dots, three dashes, then three dots, could not be misinterpreted as being a message for anything else.  Also, being sent together as one string (with no stops), it could be sent very quickly and needing very little power to transmit.  As the 1918 Marconi Yearbook of Wireless Telegraphy and Telephony notes, “This signal [SOS] was adopted simply on account of its easy radiation and its unmistakable character.  There is no special significance in the letters themselves…”

Finally.. I knew where the shortcut {SOS} came from...

*The Color Orange Was Named After the Fruit:

Today I found out the color orange was named after the fruit, not the other way around.   Before then, the English speaking world referred to the orange color as geoluhread, which literally translates to “yellow-red”.
The word orange itself was introduced to English through the Spanish word “naranja”, which came from the Sanskrit word nāraṅga, which literally means “orange tree”.  The English dropped the leading “n” and eventually we got the word “orange”.
In the early 16th century, the word orange gradually started being used to not only refer to the fruit, but also what we now know of as the color orange.
